Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am delighted to extend to you a warm invitation to participate actively in the WPA Regional Conference and Chinese Psychiatric Society Annual Congress to be held in Shanghai, China in September 2007. The Chinese Society of Psychiatry is an esteemed member of the World Psychiatric Association family and Shanghai is one of the world’s fastest growing metropolis with a thriving psychiatric community.
I am certain that this important event will offer an excellent opportunity to analyze the effects of globalization which will be optimized only when improvements in health and well-being become central objectives of national and international policies. We shall be able also to consider in this event the applicability and implications for Asia of WPA’s Program on Psychiatry for the Person, including its efforts to articulate science and humanism and to integrate and contextualize health concepts and services. Furthermore, a substantial review shall take place of fundamental topics and new findings in our exciting field.
Shanghai and China will be propitious settings for participating in a rich scientific program and exploring the ancient and recent wonders of the local culture. Furthermore, we shall be able to strengthen old friendships and create new ones.
With the hope of greeting you personally soon.
Yours cordially,
Prof. Juan E. Mezzich
President of the World Psychiatric Association
President of the Congres
